The Rev. Dr. Barbara Rossing will be the featured presenter of the 2010 Lavik Series at Trinity Lutheran College.  Rossing is the author of The Rapture Exposed: The Message of Hope in the Book of Revelation, a critique of “Left Behind” theology, and a nationally-known scholar on the last book of the Bible.  For the Lavik Series, she will explore themes from the Book of Revelation and their relationship to current environmental concerns, as well as how Christians can make decisions that benefit creation and the world community.

The event is made possible by the Lavik Endowment at Trinity Lutheran College, which sponsors an annual lecture series highlighting a current topic related to global evangelism.  This year’s event is also supported by the ELCA Northwest Washington Synod Book of Faith Initiative.

Rossing, a Professor of New Testament at the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago, holds a Master of Divinity from Yale University Divinity School and a Doctor of Theology from Harvard University.  She was part of the Lutheran World Federation’s delegation to the 2009 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen, Denmark.
