“I love coaching and teaching athletes how to get the most out of their talents and achieve their dreams and goals,” says Weatherbie. “My goal is to find a group of extraordinary student athletes that want an opportunity to challenge themselves to achieve their goals and be part of the Trinity experience.”

Geoff Weatherbie’s coaching background includes assistant positions at both Oregon State University (Corvallis, OR) and Robert Morris University (Pittsburgh, PA). His own athletic experience includes National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) Division 1 competition in cross country at Elon University (Elon, NC) and Robert Morris University, where he completed a master’s degree in sport administration.

Joel Pearson enters his first season as Head Men’s Cross Country Coach at Trinity Lutheran College. He joins Trinity after working as Director of Track & Field Operations at the University of Iowa.

Prior to University of Iowa, Pearson was the Head Cross Country and Track & Field coach for Whatcom Community College in Bellingham, Wash., where he coached four collegiate All-Americans and one conference champion. He was also the assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at IPFW, an NCAA Division 1 institution in Fort Wayne, Ind.

Pearson graduated from Ferndale High School (2004) in Ferndale, Wash. before earning a Bachelor of Arts degree from The Evergreen State College (Washington) in 2007 with a double major in history and coaching. While at Evergreen, Pearson competed on the Cross Country and Track & Field Teams.

Pearson has also coached state qualifiers and/or school record holders at Meridian, Lynden, Blaine, Nooksack Valley, and Ferndale high schools in Washington.

He holds a USATF Level 2 Certification in Endurance and is the son of former American 50 mile record holder and national champion Jim Pearson.
